Why ATV Skid Plates are so Important
Since running an ATV is a hobby that sucks cash like crazy, doing whatever you can to protect that investment is really critical. One solution is just leave it in your garage under a tarp - but that pretty much defeats the purpose
By the nature of the sport, ATVs tend to encounter a lot of potentially damaging situations on treacherous terrain. It's just how it is. If you can't deal with it, ight as well get a LazyBoy recliner. One thing you can do is to install a set of ATV skid plates.
So what is an ATV skid plate? These are plates commonly used to cover the front bumpers and the underside of ATVs to protect the radiator, steering and the chassis (basically the whole body) from damage caused by rocks, dirt and other elements. This is an essential accessory. Unless all you use your ATV for is to deliver the neighborhood milk, that machine is bound to get pounded, ravaged, and pounded yet again. Well, I suppose we can all stand a few minor bruises, but you wan tthe machine to survive the ride.
There are various kinds of ATV skid plates, and they protect certain areas of your ATV. But probably the most important are the front skid plate to protect the radiator and the belly plate to protect the underside, which, obviously, often ends up in intimate contact with the terrain.
I can't stress enough how important ATV skid plates are. If you are willing to shell out $8,000 or so for an ATV, don't be dumb. Get a set of ATV skid plates and do yourself (and your wallet) a huge favor.
Now, here are some cool sites that offer various ATV skid plates that no doubt you'll find sexy.
Most ATV Skid Plates purchased online are do-it-yourself. Sure, they come with a manual, but if you still have problems or have some difficulty identifying a screwdriver from a monkey wrench, you could always have it installed by a qualified technician.
